L.O.V.E all Around!

As the internet world gets flooded with Pink & Red waters, ushering in Love all around, can you stay untouched?

Well, though everyday is & should be a celebration of sorts, its these days of celebrations that remind us that life is all about rejoicing! And to all those who dislike /hate/ban Valentine's day, I just have to say that its just another day, yet important because it reminds us of the wonderful emotion called Love. It just says that Love, like any other festivity, is a cause for celebration!

Here are a few ways in which we're creating the 'Love is in the air' feeling around our home!

Heart Garland in bedroom with Photo Display!

A mini Chalkboard I created for display in Dining Area!

Which I converted to this for my Desktop!
Wall Art (Printables) available in my ETSY Shop!
Hope you're celebrating too! :)

Christmas at Home 2013

Its strange and funny that I've gone emotionally overboard with all my lovely Christmas Freebies/Downloads & Greetings post and yet forgotten to share what Christmas at my home is like!!!
Its cold in here in Bangalore (India)... suitably though. Weather colder than this irks more than pleasing the senses... though I can live in bitter cold too, only if the provisions of keeping warm and cozy are in place... Sadly that's inadequate in here. Ultimately am happy with the weather. It completely rings in the 'Jingle Bells / Riding on a Sleigh' kind of charm minus the snow.

So this year instead of making a pretty Christmas tree (my favorite), I thought of making a tiny 'Winter land' & of course stream up lights in the shape of a Christmas tree. Apart from these, some chalkboard art & handmade ornaments to define my most favorite celebration around the house!

A Label called 'Handmade'

A wonderful feeling expressed in my own words... Just thought I'd create a little poster for all the wonderful Handmade artists, craftists around the world...

Handmade Toys

Ever since I have begun making toys for my little girl...somehow it has become difficult to appreciate toys (particularly dolls & softies) available in the shops... Most of them all look the same, feel quite plastic and don't have that pure innocence...

I remember playing with some crocheted dolls when I was just about three... Of course at that time I had the pleasure of playing with toys that were 'Made in Japan' label. Most of them were unique & often you'd not find the same piece (unlike now wherein you have thousands of those clones!). I loved my baby doll (she would cry and had a little pacifier in her mouth), LEGO land & many of those softies which were so adorable and had something or the other to keep me busy (I had this little boy whose neck would twist and turn on winding the key on his back. So adorable. I can still play with it for hours!)

Now, when I buy toys for my little one, its not the same feeling. Me being a soft toy hoarder (I have all my soft toys kept safely in my Mom's house), I don't feel like buying them anymore. Instead, its a joy to create something with my own hands, something that will be unique, something that she will cherish for years, something that I will be proud of, something that will be made with immense love & care.

A little collage of my softies that I've made till now... and planned many more :)
I don't know where I will stock so many of them, but all I know is that I want to go on making many of them as long as I can! :)

And to end this post, I just came up with a long and lovely statement about Handmade creations:
Handmade is all about cherishing & enjoying a unique and pure creation made with immense Love, Care & Joy...

Agree? :)

Serendipity - From Cushion Cover to Pouch!

So excited about my new sewing machine that all I can think of is sewing all day long! Well, since its my first, I was anxious too. So I thought I should try my hand at making the simplest thing - Cushion cover. And so I began... only to end up with the cover being turned into a pouch!!! That's serendipity... creating something worthwhile when you intended creating something else!

Well, as with everything, I'd love to learn it on my own... a few serendipitous creations won't matter, I guess! :)

DIY Creative Crafts - Handmade Paper Baskets

This time my love for baskets has given me a DIY! While handmade fabric baskets are really chic and give that very 'cotton rich' look, handmade paper baskets are equally good for storage of light weight stuff~ craft supplies, kiddie accessories like clips or napkins etc.

The stuff that's required is depicted in pictures...pretty easy to find at home, anytime. This DIY like my previous DIYs uses cereal boxes or any other packaging that will be put to a glorious use instead of making its way to the bin!

You could use a sturdy cardboard in case you want to make large sized paper basket. That could be used as basket for soft toys or just about anything you wish to dunk & dump!

1) Cut out two circular pieces (any size that you want)

2) Next, cut out two circular pieces from the Scrap Paper sheet. However, do not cut out the same size. You need to keep at least half an inch extra all along the diameter. Then neatly stick the cardboard piece onto the scrap paper cut out. Leave it to dry for a few minutes. Once dry, make small (about 1 cm fringes along the diameter of scrap paper. The paper will stick neatly onto the dia, otherwise it forms pointy edges.

 3) Apply glue around the rim of the cardboard piece & neatly fold in the fringed scrap paper. Now the base pieces are done. Next, cut out a strip long enough to cover the dia of the circular pieces (with an extra 2 inch length). You can choose what width you want. Cut out scrap paper by allowing for double the width plus 2 inches. (For example, if you choose to have a width of 2 inches then cut out scrap paper with a width of (2+2+2). The extra 2 inches will be used for sticking the bases. The length of the scrap paper should be as long as the cut out.

 4) Now fold your scrap paper into half (lengthwise). Insert the long strip of cardboard. Apply glue on one side & stick the scrap paper. Let it dry. Once dry, keeping the glued side on the outside join both the ends of the strip by inserting one end inside the other. Now seal the end by applying glue. Hold it for a while to allow the ends to stick firmly.

5) Once dry, make fringes to the extra 1 inch paper that is left out. Neatly fold it in. Then apply glue to the base of one of the circular piece. Set the fringed portion onto the base & press firmly. Once done, apply glue on the inside of the fringed portion (as shown in pic) & quickly set the other base firmly onto it. Press firmly with hands to allow both the bases to stick together with the fringed portion.

6) The paper basket is ready to use! Yet another Organic Stylish Storage I love so much! {coined the term when I made my first fabric basket :) ! }

They can be used as a little return gift basket for your kid's birthday party or just a sweet little Easter Basket! (Attach handles on the sides by stapling & a sticker).

If you try this, do share your creations & links! I'd love to hear from you!
