Handmade Toys

Ever since I have begun making toys for my little girl...somehow it has become difficult to appreciate toys (particularly dolls & softies) available in the shops... Most of them all look the same, feel quite plastic and don't have that pure innocence... 

I remember playing with some crocheted dolls when I was just about three... Of course at that time I had the pleasure of playing with toys that were 'Made in Japan' label. Most of them were unique & often you'd not find the same piece (unlike now wherein you have thousands of those clones!). I loved my baby doll (she would cry and had a little pacifier in her mouth), LEGO land & many of those softies which were so adorable and had something or the other to keep me busy (I had this little boy whose neck would twist and turn on winding the key on his back. So adorable. I can still play with it for hours!) 

Now, when I buy toys for my little one, its not the same feeling. Me being a soft toy hoarder (I have all my soft toys kept safely in my Mom's house), I don't feel like buying them anymore. Instead, its a joy to create something with my own hands, something that will be unique, something that she will cherish for years, something that I will be proud of, something that will be made with immense love & care.

I don't know where I will stock so many of them, but all I know is that I want to go on making many of them as long as I can! :)

And to end this post, I just came up with a long and lovely statement about Handmade creations:
Handmade is all about cherishing & enjoying a unique and pure creation made with immense Love, Care & Joy...

Felt Rag Doll

This one is an amusement to me too!!! I've just made my most favorite toy: Doll.... 

Having collected numerous dolls ever since my childhood, I really wanted to create one with my own hands.

So creating a design, cutting, sewing my little handmade doll was a really special process.

She stands one foot tall & has been made completely in felt! ...

It was extra special as my two year old is at just the right age to enjoy playing with dolls... so this one is obviously for her! ♥  And she has a name for her too... Lizzie! :)

Little Love Owl from ♥ LoveJungle♥ Series

Here's a little LuvOwl... And he is special ! 

I wanted to include a little owl in my ♥ LoveJungle♥ Series for quite sometime...but could not find enough time to make one...

And Voila! My little secret wish was granted today! And How!

I came across a lovely Owl Pattern trial from jenaissancedesign.blogspot.com. 

The beautiful creations (Embroidery Art, Patterns & more) on this blog had got me hooked a few months back... and today I am really glad to have created this little softy from Jennaisance's pattern.

Old Mac Donald themed Felt Mobile for Babies and Toddlers

Old Mac Donald had a farm

Ee-aa-ee-aa-O

And on his farm he had: A Cow, A Pig, A Rooster & A Sheep!

This is a cute little Baby Mobile on Old Mac Donald theme. Going by the theme, there are four animals - Cow, Sheep, Pig & Rooster. It has a little wooden flower too. 

It is ideal for both baby boys & girls. It is lightweight due to its materials & hence poses Zero risk of ever hurting the baby. 

Now if you are wondering how to use this for a toddler...its easy - You can teach them Old Mac Donald song using this mobile. Visual learning is easier, any day! :)

Besides that, the animals can be used as danglers when its' use as mobile is no longer required. So you have a lovely little set of animals to accompany your kid for a long time!
